General course information

The course is based exclusively on distance learning. All course material (lectures in English, Georgian texts with transliterations, exercises, Georgian-English dictionary, audio-files, Georgian fonts etc) will be available on the net.
No obligatory meetings in Malmoe are included. The examination is also conducted on the net.

Duration
New lectures and exercises will be published on the Internet every week. Besides the obligatory exercises, interactive exercises for individual studies are also included (exercises with answers published on the net). Students who pass the exam successfully can apply for the next level (16-30 credits) online course Georgian II.

Fees
There is no tuition fee. The only fee that students have to pay is a reduced fee to the Malmö Student Union of 170 SEK (approximately 25 USD) for the whole semester. Students, who live in Sweden and study only a distance course of 15 or less credit points, also pay the reduced fee of 170 SEK to the Student Union.

Once you have sent your application online, you will be requested to print out a cover sheet for your supporting documents. The sheet contains your personal data and is essential for matching the actual documents with your application.

In order to make sure that your credentials will be attached to you application remember to use the cover sheet available on your account.

  3. Choose "View/edit application"

Your documents will be scanned and then assessed by Malmoe University.
Information about your application will be sent to your e-mail address.

Please note: Until you have confirmed and sent your application by mail it will be regarded as incomplete.

Documentation

Please note that you are expected to submit documentation of your secondary education when applying for courses and programmes on the basic level. 

Records of completed upper-secondary education

Your upper secondary education must be documented with certified copies of the diploma as well as a transcript of all subjects and grades. If these documents are in a language other than English, French, German or the Nordic languages, you also have to send in authorized translations. Only final and officially issued documents are valid.

Proficency in English
You have to present proof of proficency in English. For the courses and programmes given in English the requirement is usually set to the equivalence of English studies at secondary level in Sweden (English course B). A lower level, English A is required for this course. 

If your secondary school qualifications in English are not considered to fulfil this requirement, you must submit the official results from an internationally recognized test such as TOEFL or IELTS. It is your responsibility to to ensure that the official TOEFL score is forwarded directly from ETS to VHS - The Swedish National Admissions Office to Higher Education (institution code: Sweden 9520)
